.
  • It took a Sofer (Scribe) about a year to write one Torah scroll.  This is very labour-intensive, and also prone to mistakes.  Meticulous writing by reputable Sofers and careful checking avoids mistakes which otherwise require correction.

  • A Torah scroll, kept in good condition, will last about 100 years.

  • Dedicating a Torah scroll is the highest honour one can bestow in memory or in appreciation of a loved one.

  • Fundraising and tzedaka (charitable) opportunities include selling the last unwritten letters of the Torah scroll, to be completed by a Sofer at a letter-writing ceremony.

  • A seminar workshop to introduce the Torah scroll is available at no additional charge, upon the purchase of a Torah scroll.

  • Torah scrolls are available in a variety of sizes, weights, and prices. An extensive selection of decorative coverings is offered.

"The idea of 600,000 letters in a Torah alludes to the Children of Israel that stood at Mount Sinai.  In reality, the Torah contains about 300,000 letters.  Consider that some letters are made up of multiple letters joined together, such as Mem (Kaf and Vav), Hey (Daled and Yud), and Aleph (two Yuds and a Vav). This fact considered, the recalculation of the number of letters in the Torah is now close to 600,000.”
